Web Developer Notes
'What You Have is What You See'
(WYHIWYS) is a fundamental concept of the functionality of the
website. This means that only categories (primary and the secondary and
tertiary subcategories) with data content display when a client fires a specific
query such as:
-
by requesting a map area and
having returned the existing-data categories in the 'Main Directory' or
-
by requesting a topic such as 'Things
to See and Do' for a specific map area.
This precludes the use of static drop
down menus and means the clients query will return a directory page of category
options for existing products.
The two critical reasons for this
are:
-
To protect the clients from
time-wasting, frustrating blind clicks
-
And in the case of the 'Main
Directories' which correspond to the map areas, to allow the client to easily
see/shop all the categories of existing products
